Introduction
The National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology (First Tech) has been striving to transform into the first entrepreneurial university in Taiwan as well as to promote key developmental principles, such as, “Prevention and Control of Industrial Disasters,” “Technological Development in Mold and Die Industry,” “Distribution Industry Talent Training,” “Promotion of Innovative Entrepreneurship,” and “Facilitating Industry-Academy Cooperation.” Being chosen as a Technological University Paradigm, FirstTech’s efforts are recognized by the Ministry of Education and it receives a four-year grant totaling NT$ 240 million.
Following Executive Yuan’s policy of promoting “industrialization of campus innovation” and the core strategy, “innovative entrepreneurship,” of Technological and Vocational Education Reform Project,
FirstTech will stick to the goal of developing technological and vocational education and fulfill the role of an entrepreneurship university properly, actively forming a development strategy focusing on the very state of industries. Moreover, holding the belief of resources sharing, FirstTech would like to encourage partners in the field of technological and vocational education to work together for the enhanced level of industry-academy cooperation, and the improvement of capability for patent value adding and commercialization of research outputs. Through a thorough implementation of the paradigm development project, and collaboration between industry and academy, FirstTech wishes to elaborate the pragmatic features in technological and vocational education and build up a new paradigm in Taiwan.

Introduction
National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology has been subsidized by the Program for Promoting Teaching Excellence of Universities and kept on improving teaching measures since 2006. At the first stage (2006-2007), teaching was emphasized, reforming teaching systems and creating a superior learning environment.
The purpose of phase 1 at the second stage (2009-2010) is to strictly enforce every working item in every college and department and to make sure teaching resources do have effective impact on students.
The purpose of phase 2 at the second stage (2011-2012) is to cultivate students to be versatile and be a specialist under the collaboration of teachers, students, curricula, internationalization, and environment.
The third stage features to be“start-up”. Viewing from teachers, students, and curricula, it not only continues the results of first and second stage, but also characterizes and innovate the potential items.

The Central Principles
This project contains eight sub-projects and content of each sub-project is as follows:
Sub-project A:Enhance learning effect, including e-learning efficiency enhancement, internship at Hands-on Factory, project-base learning, strengthening evaluation of students’ performance, sustaining learning warning and teaching assistance systems, and reinforcing education for vocational high schools. Sub-project B:Enhance teachers’ ability, including advancing multi-ability tutor, refining teachers’ practice, developing faculty skill, encouraging excellent faculty, and optimizing teachers’ evaluation and student counseling mechanism. Sub-project C:Promote lifestyles for future citizens, including happiness, culture, leadership, and service. (Enforcement unit:Office of Students Affairs)

Sub-project E:Starting an enterprise, including promoting education of starting an enterprise, fostering practice of starting an enterprise, sustaining of promoting education of starting an enterprise, and sustaining of fostering practice of starting an enterprise. Sub-project F:Broadening international perspectives, including carrying out campus internationalization, upgrading international academic exchange, taking part in overseas education exposition. (Enforcement unit:Office of Research and Development)
Sub-project G:Boosting industry-academia collaboration, including developing industrial park on campus, deepening industry-academia co-construction, reinforcing patent and intellectual property rights, and carrying out industry-academia campaign.
